Title: Towards AI Empowered Intelligent Online Maps
Speaker: Dr. Hao Liu, Assistant Professor, AI Thrust, HKUST(GZ)

Abstract:

The prevalence of mobile devices and the rapid progress of urbanization produce overwhelming big urban data, e.g., human mobility records, traffic dynamics, and point-of-interest (POI) variations, which exposes great opportunities and challenges for modern online map services. In this talk, I would like to share our recent works on creating intelligent online maps from a perspective of dynamic graph representation learning. In the first part, I will introduce our work on modeling and understanding dynamics of the networked social-cyber-physical urban system, including both human mobility intention inference and urban demand-supply forecasting. In the second part, I will introduce a production-level routing engine for multi-modal transportation recommendation, which learns deep representations of context-aware user preferences and route semantics to facilitate travel decision-making. Finally, I will conclude the talk and present future research directions on developing interdisciplinary data science pipelines for various smart city applications.
