Biography of the Speakers:

Charmian Koo is Vice President, Internal Trade Reporting Applications in the Institutional Securities Technology division. As the Asia team lead of trade reporting, Charmian focuses on data engineering and business intelligence development, and her team supports Risk Management and Compliance on all types of surveillance and regulatory enquiries. Charmian joined Morgan Stanley in 2007; prior to that, she was a Business Intelligence developer in UBS and she started her career as a Technology graduate trainee in Hang Seng Bank. Charmian holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (Information Systems) from HKUST, a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Accountancy from CUHK. Outside of work, Charmian is an active Bridge player and recently won the Silver medal of Contract Bridge Supermixed team at the 2018 Asian Games.

Darren Sun is Vice President, Equity Swaps Trading in the Institutional Securities Technology division. He currently leads a team of 3 members that is focused on building a system to support client position management, and allow financing re-rate opportunities for the global Equity Swaps business. Darren joined the firm in 2015 through the Technology Analyst Program (TAP). Since then, he has been using KDB on a data platform for performant query and data analytics. Darren holds a PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering, obtained from HKUST.
