UST provided a stunning and challenging learning environment. It allowed me to produce the top-tier publications that landed me my first teaching position. Even more importantly, I very much enjoyed the UST faculty and student body. Some of the most valuable lessons, I learned over a cup of organic mint tea at coffee shop.

I didn't know the reputation of Peking University until the last minute before the college entrance examination. When I was a sophomore in Peking Univ, I already decided to join HKUST. It's pretty ridiculous, since I knew nothing about UST at that time. Now as a UST graduate, I would appreciate that perfect decision.

Thanks to my advisor, and many professors and friends at HKUST. Here we have studied, conducted research and had lots of fun together. The past three years turned out to be very fruitful to me. I love the seaview and sunrise from my dorm window. I love the people, the library, the lab, the food, and everything here at HKUST!

For two reasons I love HKUST. Firstly, the campus is small and beautiful. Everything, e.g. dorm, office, bank, canteen, supermarket, gym, can be reached in five minutes walking distance. I can focus on my research without leaving campus for months if I want. Secondly, labs are always filled with passionate students. They are both very good collaborators and very good friends. HKUST is really an ideal place for pursuing a PhD degree.

Going to HKUST for my Ph.D. is the best career decision I have made. The university and the CSE department provide an ideal environment for research excellence and world-class achievements. I completed my Ph.D. in 3.5 years, with a publication list that directly placed me in an Assistant Professor position at Singapore Management University. In addition to the academic qualifications I acquired at HKUST, my stay in the vibrant and ever evolving Hong Kong was also an unforgettable experience.

It may sound a bit cliche, but I cannot emphasize more the saying 'no pain, no gain'. Keep the hard work and the time will come for you (and me too) to relish our new achievements.

聽起來有些老生常談,不過我還是想說:沒有付出,就沒有收穫。只要保持你的工作/學習熱情,收穫的時刻就在不遠方等待你。

A Few Quotes:

I didn't know the reputation of Peking University until the last minute before the college entrance examination. When I was a sophomore in Peking Univ, I already decided to join HKUST. It's pretty ridiculous, since I knew nothing about UST at that time. Now as a UST graduate, I would appreciate that perfect decision.

A Few Quotes:

For two reasons I love HKUST. Firstly, the campus is small and beautiful. Everything, e.g. dorm, office, bank, canteen, supermarket, gym, can be reached in five minutes walking distance. I can focus on my research without leaving campus for months if I want. Secondly, labs are always filled with passionate students. They are both very good collaborators and very good friends. HKUST is really an ideal place for pursuing a PhD degree.
