Abstract:

Cloud computing which provides customers illusion of infinite available 
computing r esources requires a framework to effectively support 
processing on extremely large datasets on clusters of commodity servers. 
MapReduce framework proposed by Google i s widely adopted. With the 
increase of scale in clusters, improving allocations of workloads among 
distinct servers in order to raise overall utility of hardware, dec rease 
response times of jobs as well as maintain fairness among customers hence 
bec omes very popular both in research and academia. In this survey, we 
have presented currently available scheduling algorithms and studied 
various enhanced scheduling a lgorithms with advantages and drawbacks in 
MapReduce framework.
