PhD Student LI Haotian Awarded 2023 Style3D Graduate Fellowship

Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D. student LI Haotian was awarded a 2023 Style3D Graduate Fellowship under supervision of Prof. QU Huamin. He was one of 10 recipients selected from graduate students from leading research academic institutions in China. Recipients are identified as outstanding and potential young scholars with their exceptional talent and innovation in computer graphics and related fields.

Style3D firmly believes that the investment in university talent today will be the key to its continuous growth and success in the future. Starting in 2021, the Style3D graduate fellowship program funds junior graduate students who have established research interests and demonstrated potentials in computer graphics research.

On 17th August,2023, Style3D Open Day was held in Style3D's Hangzhou headquarter. At the event, the CEO, Dr. Chen Liu and the leading researcher, Dr. Huamin Wang, from Style3D, shared and exchanged ideas with the award-winning students. Ten outstanding postgraduate students showcased their innovative research achievements in graphics technology and had in-depth interactions and Q&A sessions with other students and researchers from Style3D. Haotian presented his recent research in human-AI collaborative visual data analysis and communication. The other sharing content covered various directions such as computer graphics, AR/VR, visualization, and human-computer interaction. The participants also discussed the forefront of scientific research in the computer field and explored the cross-disciplinary research in various directions.

"From our perspective, we often talk about how difficult it is to transform research output to real world application, or how academia may be ahead of industry. However, I have found that from Style3D's perspective, it is actually industry that is driving the development of academia. Academia may consider larger issues such as big models, but when it comes to practical implementation, there are various arising challenges. For example, many problems in the application of AIGC in industry were difficult for us to anticipate. Only through practical experience can we realize how difficult these problems are, what kind of requirements are needed, and how we can promote progress in our research." Haotian said, "As the only recipient from the field of visualization research, I am very honored to be part of the fellowship program. This not only acknowledges my past efforts but also motivates me to continue my research directions and tackle real-world challenges. Additionally, I feel very fortunate to connect with leading industrial researchers and gifted young researchers, which will allow me to broaden my knowledge and skills."
