[ Information Technology Enrichment Project Course - Summary ]
 
Summary of Round-Up Camp:

During the past five months, the responsible faculty members of the Department of Computer Science of HKUST had led 10 groups of 5 students each to conduct 10 group projects with in-depth discussion and investigations in the area of Information Technology (IT) with the aim to nurture their creativity in using IT to solve daily problems as well as to introduce them to some exciting IT technologies. Details can be obtained in the section of “Project Information”.

After five-month hard work, 50 students with high potential in computer science will finalize their group projects in a round-up camp at HKUST where students can interact closely with their team members to finalize and present of their projects. Details are as follows:

Date: 4 – 6 August 2005 (3 days and 2 nights camp)
Venue: Campus of HKUST

Moreover, a closing ceremony of this course and a public display of projects will be held on 6 August 2005 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. so as to recognise students’ effort and achievements. You are welcomed to invite your parents, principals, teachers and friends to attend the closing ceremony and public display. In this ceremony, students will present their group projects and certificates will be issued for those who completed their projects successfully and achieved 80% or above attendance. Apart from this, demonstration of group projects will be performed by students and posters of projects will be showed in the public display. Besides, “Certificate of Distinction” and “Certificate of Credit” will be issued to 2 groups with outstanding performance in the Group presentation and Demonstration of projects.

Notes:

  1. All students are required to attend the round-up camp. Please be reminded that students cannot obtain the “certificate of completion” if they do not attend the round-up camp. The completed “Confirmation Reply Slip” must reach Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Students Scheme, Fung Hon Chu Gifted Education Centre, 7 Shing Mun Road, Tsuen Wan by mail or by fax (fax number: 2490 4730) on or before Wednesday, 27 July 2005. No further notification will be offered.

  2. Students who confirm to participate should report to Lecture Theatre H, HKUST at 9:30 a.m. on 4 August 2005 and bring along daily necessity for 2 nights of stay-over.

  3. Students must get parent’s approval and signature for participating in the activity.

  4. Education and Manpower Bureau and the activity organizers will do their utmost to ensure the safety of student participants during the activities. By the way, parents have the responsibility to decide whether the camp fits their children according to the situation of their children and the nature of the camp, and bear all the consequences. To ensure safety, parents must arrange to send their children to the venue of the activities and pick them up after the activities.
