Hong Kong is a food city with restaurants everywhere. The short list below is only meant to provide pointers to a few restaurants in popular locations. It emphasizes restaurants specializing in Chinese Cuisines.

Unlike in many other countries some of the best restaurants in Hong Kong are in hotels and shopping malls.

• American-Peking Restaurant

  Despite its name an old style Chinese restaurant serving Peking food. Reservations necessary.
• City Chiu Chow Restaurant
  1/F, East Ocean Centre 98 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, 2723-6226.
  Traditional Chiu Chow Cusine. Moderately priced.
• Golden Elephant Thai Restaurant
  Shop G110, Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui 2735-0733.
  Cantonese/Thai. Has a large, reasonably priced, buffet.
• Kung Tak Lam
  G/F, Blk B, Lok Sing Centre, 31 Yee Wo Street. Causeway Bay, 2890-3127.
  Vegetarian Shanghainese restaurant.
• Lai Ching Heen
  Regent Hotel, 18 Salisbury Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong, 2721 1211.
  Cantonese style. One of the highest ranked restaurants in town. Reservations necessary. Expensive.
• Peak Cafe
  121 Peak Road, The Peak, Hong Kong, 2849-7868.
  International Cuisine. If visiting Victoria Peak during the evening this is a good place for dinner. Reservations necessary.
• Snow Garden Restaurant
  2/F Ming An Plaza, 8 Sunning Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. 2881-6335. Shanghainese Cuisine. Moderately priced.
• The Sweet Dynasty
  88 G/F Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. 2199-7799. Cantonese Cuisine. Moderately priced. Famous for their Cantonese desserts. They also have noodles and congee (rice porridge).
• Vegetarian Garden
  128 Johnston Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. 2833-9128. Moderately priced. Vegetarian Chinese food. Just outside the Wan Chai MTR exit on Johnston Road: enter from the street level, go down to the restaurant in the basement.
• Vong Restaurant
  25/F, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hong Kong, 5 Connaught Rd, Central District, 2522-0111 ext 4028.
  French-Asian fusion food. Expensive, Reservations Necessary. Highly rated. Window seats have fantastic view of the harbour.
• Yee Shun Milk Company
  63 Pilkem Street, Tsim Sha Tsui. 2730-2799. At the Jordan MTR Stop (Exit A). Cantonese Dairy Desserts.
• Yung Kee Restaurant
  32-40 Wellington Street, Central District, 2522-1624. Very famous for its roast goose. Reservations recommended. Moderately priced.
• Zen
  LG1, Pacific Place Shopping Mall, (Exit directly from Admiralty MTR) 88 Queensway, Admiralty, 2845-4555.
  An authentic but slightly upscale Cantonese restaurant specializing in dimsum.
• Lan Kwai Fung

• SOHO
