"Web Search on Mobile Devices"

Abstract:

Recently, Internet enabled mobile devices have become more popular than 
ever.  These mobile devices have small form factors, are mostly for 
personal use, and move across different contexts. As a result, users' web 
navigation and search behaviors are different on mobile devices from those 
on conventional desktops. This survey focuses on research issues in mobile 
browsing, personalized search, and local search that arise from 
facilitating web navigation and search on mobile devices. In addition to 
studying the various existing techniques on these three related topics in 
mobile search, we provide comparisons on the techniques, and present our 
understanding on some open issues.
