System"

Abstract:

Most of the famous film and game music is composed from one recognizable theme
with different arrangements. However, it is time consuming to fit the emotional
characteristics of the varying scenes in the arrangement stage. In this paper,
we proposed a real-time music arrangement system, which would allow the user to
adjust the mood of the music in real-time while keep the theme (i.e., melody)
of it. The system is formed by 4 modules, which are (1) preprocessing module,
(2) mood to music parameters conversion module, (3) melody and harmony
generation module, and (4) instrumentation and synthesizing module. We will
evaluate the system from three aspects, which are (1) the degree of the mood
expression, (2) the musical quality of the generated sound, (3) the style
variety of the generated sound.
