PhD Qualifying Examination "A Survey of Interactive Editing Operations for 3D Meshes" By Mr. Kin Chung Au Abstract: This report surveys interactive editing operations for 3D meshes. A mesh is a piecewise linear surface in 3D defined by a set of polygons; typically a set of triangles. This surface representation provides simple and efficient rendering. However due to their irregular connectivity and sampling, various editing operations for meshes have different complications. In this survey, we classify some common editing operations into three groups based on the usage of parameterization information. The operations we survey include deformation, simplification, multi-resolution representation, signal processing, parameterization and its applications.
