of the China Computer Federation (CCF DBS)
is organizing the VLDB Database School (China). The objective is to promote
database related research and teaching in China by providing teachers,
researchers and senior graduate students working in database and related areas
with an opportunity to attend lectures given by overseas database researchers.
The school will invite internationally recognized researchers to give short courses at different universities in China each year. Particularly, VLDB School 2002 will be organized by the School of Computer Science and Technology of the Suzhou University, China. This year's topics include (1) WEB information management systems; (2) Query processing and optimization; (3) Performance evaluation of practical systems. We warmly welcome young teachers and postgraduate students from all over China who are working on database theories and systems to take the advantage and join this year's VLDB Database School.
