FAQ for Students

COMP/CPEG Mixed Groups

We encourage the mixed FYP group composed of CSE and CPEG students. To form a mixed FYP group (CS+CPEG), the CSE students have to follow the CPEG FYP course code and register in COMP 4991 (Summer/Fall/Spring), instead of the CSE FYP course code which is COMP 4982 (Fall/Spring).

As this is regarded as deviation from curriculum by the ARR, to avoid any future problems you may encounter during graduation check, please fill out the GR-14 form and submit it for approval. You may ask Ms. Brenda TAM () for preparing the form for you.

To register in COMP 4991 (Summer/Fall/Spring), please submit your on-line request through the course registration system.

  3. Students should still follow the due dates for various reports and program code as specified on the FYP page. However, a student may seek a delay of the Presentation & Demo and Poster Due dates if he or she is unable to be present on the specified dates. Honor's Track Students

Students with at least A- CGA or in the Honor's Track have the option to do an individual thesis (FYT) under the supervision of a faculty member. This option is for students who would like to pursue PG research studies. For Honor's track students, this option is to maximize the likelihood of completing a MPhil thesis in the fourth year. If you are interested, please discuss with the faculty member who has posted a FYT in the system. All requirements for the FYT and the deadlines for submission are the same as those for the FYP.

In this case, CSE students should register for COMP 4982H while CPEG students for COMP 4992.
