PhD Qualifying Examination "A Survey of Techniques on Video Analysis, Enhancement and Understanding" Mr. Jia Chen Abstract: Video is becoming more and more important in vision applications, because in many cases it provides much richer information than static images. Two questions arise pertinent to the video research in the context of computer vision and image understanding: how to retrieve useful information from video content and how to process video for better human perception. To answer these questions, we give a detailed review on pertinent recent techniques, including video analysis, enhancement and understanding techniques. Based on this survey, we describe several potential research directions for this thesis.
