PhD Student Li CHEN Won the 2016 Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Award

Congratulations to the 2016 Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Award recipient, PhD student Li CHEN, supervised by Dr. Kai CHEN.

Established in 1999, the Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Program aims to empower and encourage PhD students in the Asia-Pacific region to realize their potential in computer science-related research. They recognize outstanding PhD students majoring in computer science, electrical engineering, information science, and applied mathematics.

This year, over one hundred distinguished PhD candidates from 40 leading research academic institutions in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Singapore were nominated for the 2016 Microsoft Research Asia fellowships. After evaluating each application, the review committee selected 10 outstanding PhD candidates whose exceptional talent and innovation in computer science-related research identifies them as emerging leaders in the Asia-Pacific region.

Li CHEN and other fellows were invited to attend the award ceremony at Yonsei University on Nov 3, 2016, which was an important session of the 18th Computing in the 21st Century Conference. After the Awarding Ceremony, fellows were offered an opportunity for a lunch meeting with Prof. Adi SHAMIR, the 2002 ACM Turing Award recipient.
